Building a Digital Ecosystem for Urban Prairie Agriculture

From no website and unclear digital direction to a fully structured online presence and e-commerce system —this project focused on transforming a mission-driven agriculture brand into a scalable digital platform for awareness, education, and online sales.

What was the problem?

Urban Prairie Agriculture had a powerful mission — building sustainable local food systems and improving food access — but lacked a clear digital presence to support it.

  • No structured website to communicate mission, services, or community impact
  • No clear brand hierarchy or user journey online
  • No e-commerce system to support product sales or community offerings
  • No centralized platform for education, events, or storytelling

As a result, the brand relied heavily on word-of-mouth and physical presence, limiting growth, visibility, and community reach.

What was your creative strategy?

The strategy was to build a mission-first digital ecosystem that aligned with Urban Prairie’s core values: accessibility, education, and local food empowerment.

  • Translate the brand mission into a clear digital narrative structure
  • Design a scalable website architecture that supports future growth
  • Introduce e-commerce functionality to enable direct-to-community sales
  • Build a storytelling framework around farming, education, and impact
  • Create a visual system that feels organic, community-driven, and authentic

The goal was not just to “build a website” — but to create a digital extension of the farm itself.

What did you decide not to do and why?

  • Not a corporate or overly polished agriculture brand site — the authenticity of the farm needed to remain intact
  • Not a complex enterprise e-commerce system — simplicity was prioritized to support small-scale local operations
  • Not a content-heavy marketing site — clarity and mission storytelling were prioritized over volume of content
  • Not a generic template design — the system needed to reflect real community farming work, not stock agriculture aesthetics

Every decision was guided by one principle: keep the human story at the center of the experience.
